Young Dolph has posthumously earned his first solo platinum plaque, with the honor going to his Key Glock-assisted cut “Major.”
The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed that “Major” has sold one million units in the United States, and was certified platinum on March 28 after going gold on January 22, 2019. “[M]ore on the way #LLD,” read the post on the late artist’s Instagram account, which is now handled by Paper Route Empire.
“Major” marks Dolph’s second overall platinum plaque following the certification of OT Genasis’ “Cut It.” HipHopDX also notes that the late rapper previously shared that the track was a turning point in his career, explaining in a Drink Champs interview that it supposedly gave him a $22 million signing deal offer from a major label. “It really was a good deal, a super good deal to tell you the truth,” he said. “But it’s just, I see something else.”
Elsewhere in music, Donald Glover opened up about creating new music, saying that “nothing is as easy as it used to be.”
