Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a partnership with Boosteroid, the world’s largest independent cloud gaming provider, at this year’s Gamescom. This collaboration aims to elevate in-car entertainment by integrating Boosteroid’s vast game library into the Mercedes-Benz MBUX infotainment system, which will be available in select vehicles starting next year.
The partnership will allow drivers and passengers to access over 1,000 games, including popular triple-A titles like Fortnite and Sea of Thieves. This new feature is part of the MBUX Entertainment Package Plus, designed to offer an immersive gaming experience in vehicles equipped with the third-generation MBUX system. The Boosteroid app will be accessible via the in-car App Store, enabling users to enjoy their favorite games, however, only when the vehicle is parked.
Visitors to Gamescom can experience this new tech firsthand at the SK Gaming booth, where a Mercedes-Benz E-Class will showcase the new in-car gaming feature. Magnus Östberg, Chief Software Officer at Mercedes-Benz, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating, “The cloud-based approach to gaming is the ideal way to bring triple-A gaming to our customers and gaming fans alike.”
As cloud gaming continues to grow, with predictions suggesting that 90 percent of gamers will prefer cloud-based gaming by the early 2030s, Mercedes-Benz’s collaboration with Boosteroid positions the luxury carmaker among the first to embrace this evolving trend. The Boosteroid app is set to launch in Europe, North America and South America by 2025.
