YG has announced that his sixth studio album, Pray For Me, will release later this year via Def Jam Records.
During an interview on Power 106’s Power Mornings, the Compton rapper provided context for the follow-up to 2020’s My Life4Hunnid, which included features from Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, Tyga, Lil Tjay, Tay2xs, D3szn, Gunna, Ty Dolla $ign and others.
“It’s just the growth of me, my headspace, what I’m on in life,” said YG. “And I think the whole COVID pandemic shit, I hated it, but I also look at it as like this shit kinda helped me get to where I’m at mentally.”
“The music is just gonna be my truth, as far as my life right now,” he added, before revealing that he took a break from releasing music because he felt that “the timing wasn’t right.”
Last week, YG enlisted J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo for the debut single off the forthcoming record, “Scared Money,” along with a corresponding music video.
“When I do the features I be doing, it’s always who would be unexpected or who I ain’t work with yet or who is really gonna do the record justice lyrically with bars,” he said in the interview.
YG has not yet revealed the release date for Pray For Me. Stay tuned for more information on the forthcoming record.
Elsewhere in music, 2 Chainz has shared a fiery “Free B.G.” music video.
