Ye Shares Pick for the “Best Song in the History of Music to Date”

After teasing an upcoming collaboration with Donda Sports athlete Aaron Donald for a pair of YEEZY cleats on Instagram on Sunday, Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, shared his pick for the best song of all time.

The DONDA chart-topper gave WizKid and Tems‘ “Essence” the honorary title, posting a screenshot of him listening to the track on Apple Music, alongside the caption, “Best song in the history of music to date.”

WizKid and Tems shared Ye’s post to their own social accounts, and several public figures, including Naomi Campbell and Tech N9ne, chimed in to share their praise.

“YES !!!! THANK YOU AT @kanyewest @wizkidayo @tems,” Campbell wrote under the post. “Thank you for this energy! Felt great,” Tech added.

“Essence,” released in October 2020, was the fourth single to arrive from WizKid’s Made In Lagos album. At the time, the collaborative track debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S., marking the first Nigerian track to rank on the chart.

Elsewhere in Ye’s posting spree, the rapper shared that he believes DJ Khaled‘s “GOD DID” track, featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, JAY-Z and John Legend, is the “song of the year” along with Future‘s “WAIT FOR U,” featuring Drake and Tems.
