Shortly after the release of the first trailer for The Matrix Resurrections, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II now has fans thinking that he is playing Morpheus, originally portrayed by Laurence Fishburne, in the fourth installment in The Matrix.
Taking to Instagram, the Candyman star seemingly made a bold proclamation, posting a photo of himself with the simple caption “MORPHEUS.” Although nothing has been confirmed, it is believed that Yahya will be playing a remnant of Morpheus’s younger residual self-image left in the Matrix. The theory could hold true as with the first Matrix , Yahya looks to be freeing Neo once again with the familiar red pill/blue pill scenario, not to mention the similarity in his character’s costume.
The Matrix Resurrections will stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Christina Ricci and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, along with Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss who are reprising their iconic Neo and Trinity roles.
