Breaking into the automotive market, Xiaomi has now unveiled its first-ever electric vehicle, the “SU7.” Coming in dual-motor all-wheel-drive SU7 Max and single-motor rear-wheel-drive SU7, the sedan-style car features proprietary Modena Architecture with 21,000 rpm HyperEngine electric motors.
In terms of range, the SU7 Max has a range of up to 497 miles and a 0-100km/h acceleration of just 2.78s thanks to its 101kWh 800V high-voltage platform, beating both the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan Turbo.
Aside from the ample spaced interior, details include the “water droplet” headlamps, 360 LED halo rear brake light, half-hidden door handles, and a HyperOS in-car entertainment system powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8295 processor. The entertainment system is accompanied by a 16.1-inch 3K central screen, optional Xiaomi Pad tablets, and 23 internal Dolby Atmos speakers. As for autonomous driving, the Xiaomi Pilot platform is powered by up to two NVIDIA Drive Orin processors and an array of censors.
To create the SU7, Xiaomi hired Tianyuan Li, formerly of BMW‘s iX series and iVision concepts, and James Qiu of Mercedes-Benz‘s Vision EQXX design. While BMW veteran Chris Bangle served as a design consultant.
