The Houston Roughnecks and Seattle Sea Dragons kicked off Week 4 of the XFL with victories on Saturday, and it started with a rout by what could be the rebooted league’s best team. Houston remained perfect (4-0) after crushing the winless Orlando Guardians, 44-16. The Roughnecks are one of two unbeatens, as the D.C. Defenders will try to keep pace on Sunday.
In Saturday’s nightcap — which kicked off at 10 p.m. ET — the Seattle Sea Dragons got back to .500 by behind a dominating performance by their defense, holding down the San Antonio Brahmas, 15-6 ( (see the full XFL standings, schedule, rosters and more here).
In the first game, the Roughnecks came out strong, scoring a touchdown on their first drive and shortly after scoring on a defense thanks to a fumble forced and recovered by William Likely. Houston held the lead the entire game and from the start it was clear they were the better team.
The Roughnecks — who pulled off the first double-pass touchdown of the XFL season — lead the league in points scored.
Houston found multiple ways to add to its score, whether it was on defense defense, having a wide receiver throw a touchdown pass, or getting in the end zone in the air and on the ground.
The Guardians could not get out of their own way with 13 penalties, up from their average of just over eight penalties per game.
