WWE Raw results, recap, grades: The WWE Draft concludes with Night 2 as Brock Lesnar remains a free agent - CBS Sports

The WWE Draft concluded during Raw on Monday night. Many of the top names on the WWE roster were available to be chosen by Raw or SmackDown on Night 2 as 24 picks were made across the three-hour broadcast.

Raw had the first pick of the night and secured a new women’s champion, picking SmackDown women’s champion Rhea Ripley after Raw women’s champion Bianca Belair was drafted to SmackDown this past Friday night. SmackDown responded by taking a champion from Raw, picking United States champion Austin Theory with their first pick.

CBS Sports was with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The WWE Draft concludes with 24 picks

The first round of Night 2 of the draft saw Raw take SmackDown women’s champion Rhea Ripley while SmackDown took United States champion Austin Theory with their first pick. Raw then took Seth Rollins, SmackDown followed with Charlotte Flair to close out the round. Of note, prior to the start of the draft, Triple H announced that Brock Lesnar was now ineligible to be drafted as he had renegotiated his contract and could appear on either show.

Other major moves included undisputed tag team champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn being drafted to Raw and The Usos joining Bloodline members Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa on SmackDown. Three picks were made from NXT, with tag team Pretty Deadly and singles star Cameron Grimes heading to SmackDown and the team of Katana Chance & Kayden Carter being picked by Raw.

The WWE Draft can be difficult to watch because it requires viewers to abandon all common sense at several points. For example, on Night 1, SmackDown selected The Bloodline, meaning Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa but not The Usos, for reasons not covered. Night 2 kicked off with Raw picking Ripley, but not the entire Judgement Day despite that clearly being a valid option, instead needing to use a pick later to get the rest of Judgement Day on the brand. Why? What sense does it make? Similarly, the idea that “every WWE superstar” was eligible to be drafted was a major part of the promotion for the draft, including featuring Lesnar when those statements were made. Instead, Lesnar was not eligible to be drafted once the draft actually rolled around. It’s insulting to the intelligence of the fans to run this already silly idea with as little care as WWE manages. What else happened on WWE Raw?

  • Damage CTRL (Bayley & Dakota Kai) def. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez via pinfall when Bayley pinned Morgan. The win over the tag champions may cement a title shot for the Damage CTRL pair. Damage CTRL confronted Bianca Belair backstage later in the night.
  • Braun Strowman & Ricochet def. Alpha Academy via pinfall when Ricochet hit Chad Gable with a swanton off of Strowman’s shoulders.
  • Cody Rhodes attacked Brock Lesnar after Lesnar interrupted the fourth round of the draft. Rhodes’ music hit and Lensar turned to the entrance ramp only for Rhodes to jump him from behind before security broke up the brief brawl.
  • Matt Riddle def. Jimmy Uso via pinfall after a Floating Bro. After Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn got Jey Uso kicked out of ringside by faking a chair shot, Owens rammed Jimmy’s head into an exposed turnbuckle to help Riddle score the win.
  • Shinsuke Nakamura hit Miz with a Kinshasa after appearing on Miz TV. Miz offered to team with Nakamura, who then led the crowd in a chant of “the guy with tiny balls” in Japanese before taking Miz out with a few strikes.
  • The Judgement Day def. LwO via pinfall when Damian Priest pinned Rey Mysterio with South of Heaven.
  • Seth Rollins def. Solo Sikoa via disqualification after interference by The Usos. Rollins interrupted a Paul Heyman show-opening promo during which Heyman was running down men in the Raw locker room for being excited over the new world heavyweight championship, specifically citing Rollins. Rollins’ interruption brought Sikoa to the ring and led to the set-up for the night’s main event. During the match, Rollins grabbed control late when The Usos stormed the ring to attack. Rollins was saved by Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Matt Riddle as the show went off the air.
