Daniel Boeckner has lived several lives as a singer, songwriter and guitarist. For starters, he’s the frontman of Wolf Parade, an indie rock band he helped found two decades ago. And since 2013, he’s also been a part of another Montreal act called Operators.
The artist was also part of a two-person band called Handsome Furs and another band with some of the members of Spoon, Divine Fits, both of which were disbanded around the time Operators formed.
Despite his tenure in the music industry, Boeckner has surprisingly never released a solo album. That’ll be amended this March with the release of his self-titled LP, Boeckner!.
Due via Sub Pop, the album will span eight songs and is slated to arrive on March 15. Boeckner will be joined on the project by drummer Matt Chamberlain and guitarist Brad Laner. It’ll see the artist draw from his storied experience in music and the various discographies he’s helped build over the years.
“This record is like an autobiography—Atlas Strategic music concrete synth explosions, lush synth stuff from Operators, the noise guitar from Handsome Furs, drawing influence from everything from Stockhausen to Tom Waits all at the same time,” he describes.
Daniel Boeckner’s Boeckner! is out for streaming on March 15.
