A clip of a witness’ testimony has been making the rounds on X. While being examined Thursday (June 6) by Atlanta state prosecutors during the YSL RICO trial, former Hertz rental car employee Ira Singleton was asked about a 2014 Infiniti Q50 Young Thug (real name Jeffrey Williams) allegedly used in the murder of “rival gang member” Donovan Thomas Jr.
During Thug’s attorney Keith Adams’ cross-examination, Singleton was asked if he knew the rapper. “Personally? No,” Singleton answered. “Wait, hold on. Can I go back? … I didn’t know Jeffrey Williams by that name. I knew Young Thug, yes.”

When asked if he ever met Thug personally, Singleton again answered no, but mentioned he was familiar with his work. “‘Lifestyle’ had just dropped. Everybody knew that song. Banger,” he said, referring to Rich Gang’s 2014 hit featuring Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan.
A similar situation happened last month when former Atlanta Police investigator Tyrone Dennis was being cross-examined by Adams. On May 8, state prosecutors played Thug’s 2015 song “Halftime” in an effort to connect the rapper’s lyrics to his gang affiliations.
With the song being played in the courtroom, Adams asked Dennis if he paid attention to the track’s lyrics. Dennis had a hilarious answer. “I knew the lyrics myself,” he responded while having a chuckle. “I was actually singing along. I was.”
