The creators of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey are bringing together several childhood characters in the public domain for the low-budget horror crossover, Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble.
According to Variety, the upcoming title will unite the blood-curling counterparts of Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Tinkerbell, Pinocchio, Peter Pan, Tigger, Piglet, The Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty. All the characters will first star in their own stand-alone films before coming together for the Poohniverse, which will then see the characters put up a united front against the survivors of the solo films. The monsters themselves, however, will struggle to get along in what actor-producer Scott Chambers describes as “carnage within the group” and “epic sequences of monster vs. monster.”
Starring in the crossover is Chambers, who reprises his role as Christopher Robin, Megan Plactio as Wendy Darling, Roxanne Mckee as Xana and Lewis Santer as Tigger, with the rest to be announced at a later date.
“As horror fans, we would love an Avengers that is all villains,” Chambers added. “It’d have Freddy Krueger, Jason, ‘Halloween,’ ‘Scream,’ all of those. Obviously that will never happen, but we can make it happen in our own little way, and that’s where this film has been born.”
“We’ve got access to all these concepts so it’s like a self-contained bubble and we can do what we want with them,” Rhys Jake-Waterfield, the director of Blood and Honey, Blood and Honey 2 and Poohniverse, said. “So yeah, it’s really exciting.”
