William Shatner’s Blue Origin Space Voyage Is Becoming an Amazon Documentary

William Shatner‘s Blue Origin space voyage is becoming an Amazon documentary, titled Shatner in Space, that will premiere on December 15 in the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia and New Zealand. The Star Trek actor shared news of the one-hour Prime Video special during a virtual panel at CCXP Worlds on Sunday.

The documentary special will provide an inside look at the “before, during and after” of Shatner’s trip to space, according to Deadline. After landing, the actor, who was 90 years old at the time of flight, officially became the oldest person to travel to space, alongside Chris Boshuizen, Glen de Vries and Audrey Powers.

“My time in space was the most profound experience I could have ever imagined,” said Shatner in a statement. “This special documenting my journey gives a dramatic view of that experience, and my hope is that it inspires the world to see we must go to space to save Earth.”

The flight marked the second of three crewed missions that Blue Origin has planned for this year. The third (NS-19), which is scheduled to take off on December 9, will host Alan Shepard’s daughter Laura Shepard Churchleu and GMA co-anchor Michael Strahan, as well as four paying customers.

Amazon Studios, Blue Origin, Film 45, Jason Ehrlich Productions and Bright Spot Content will produce Shatner in Space. Following the special’s December 15 premiere in the aforementioned countries, the documentary will make its debut in other territories in early 2022.

In case you missed it, Kal Penn will play Raptors superfan Nav Bhatia in a new biopic.
