Nicky Byrne, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily, and Shane Filan talk about how their new album, Wild Dreams, finds the act getting back to a pure distillation of pop, their reaction to the tour dates immediately selling out, and the advice of Simon Cowell.
“Simon Cowell said to us, because we were with him for 20-odd years, he signed us as teenagers, and he used to say to us in his office, ‘Guys, there are no rules,’” they explain. “You know what, now at 44 years of age, I kind of understand what he means. I’m sitting here going, ‘Yeah! There are no rules!’”
The Irish group also tells us what it’s been like to work with the younger songwriters who grew up on their music, the massive success of covering “You Raise Me Up,” and channeling Billy Joel for “Magic.”
