After a compelling Mexican Open last week where world number three and pre-tournament favourite, Jon Rahm, triumphed, the PGA Tour brings us back to the America this week. Last year, Rory McIlroy triumphed as he fended off some stiff competition from the likes of Abraham Ancer and Viktor Hovland. The Northern Irishman goes into this week in a bid to defend his title and is the pre-tournament favourite and it is clear to see why. Although he may not be one of the names who jumps out in the field each week, Max Homa has proved he can contend with the best golfers in the world and is most certainly a fantastic player in his own right.

Having won three events on the PGA Tour in just a few years, Homa is quite clearly an exceptional player. One of those three wins came in this tournament in 2019, so the 31-year-old clearly knows how to get in around in this event.

When he won the Wells Fargo back in 2019, he blitzed the field. Homa finished on a mesmerising -15, three shots ahead of his nearest competitor. When on form, Homa can more than contend with all of the best golfers in the world, and we fully expect him to bring his ‘A game’ this week to Maryland.

The world ranked number 38 is in some decent form too, having a few top 10s this season but is still in search of his first victory of the new year. Here at SportsLens, we think he has a great chance this week.

Wells Fargo Championship Tip 2: Jason Day to win and each-way @ 60/1 with Bet UK

Jason Day was the best golfer in the world not so long ago. The former PGA Championship winner was regarded as one of the best players for a five year period, consistently winning tournaments and cropping up at the top of leaderboards week after week.

However, due to a horrible back injury and an ingest of some exceptional young players, the Australian has seen himself fall well down the Official World Golf Rankings and hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2018.

Day played well a fortnight ago in the doubles tournament so will be coming in this week looking to become a two-time winner of the Wells Fargo Championship and get back in the winners circle for the first time in four years.
