It’s time to paint the town red — and the skies, too.

Airplane passengers who wear red might be getting better service on airplanes when compared to their non-red-clad peers, according to travel advice blog Airplane Tips.

“Airline staff may subconsciously perceive passengers in red as more important or of higher status, leading to enhanced customer service experiences,” blog writer Stephanie Lee wrote.

“So, if you want to receive top-notch treatment during your travels, consider incorporating red into your airport attire,” she added.

The blog cites something called “The Red Dress Effect,” a phenomenon in which women wearing red are deemed more desirable. There are studies to back this up, too.

According to a study from The University of Rochester published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology in 2008 entitled Romantic Red: Red Enhances Men’s Attraction to Women, red makes men feel more drawn to women.

Red can also make you appear more powerful and dominant, according to a study from 2007 published in the Journal of Evolutionary Psychology.

The color red may even increase alertness and reaction time, according to a study from the University of Rochester published in Science Daily in 2011.

That’s why some say that looking like an inflight snack may get you your pretzels and a bit faster and could even ease your airport security process.

“Wearing the powerful color red to the airport can transform your travel experience in many positive ways. With red’s ability to grab attention, incite feelings of attraction, and project confidence and authority, airline staff and security personnel view red-clad passengers more favorably,” Lee wrote.

Wearing red clothing at the airport merely scratches the surface when thinking about how to incorporate the color red into your daily life.

If you want to nail your look and increase your chances of getting a date, painting your fingernails red might be enough, according to TikTokers who put the “red nail theory” to the test.

The hashtag #rednailtheory has amassed more than 2.2 million views on TikTok, with thousands saying red nails have spiced up their dating lives.

“I’ve never been asked out on so many dates or complimented so much as I have in the past two or three weeks with these nails,” user Melisse Martineau gushed in one video, flashing her red manicure to the camera.

“I’ve been asked out on five or six dates,” she continues in the clip, with more than 759,000 views. “I don’t know what it is but [the red nail theory] is real.”
