Rangers are interested in signing Mamadou Fofana from Metz in the summer transfer window, the defender’s agent has told The Scottish Sun.
Seku Traore has claimed that Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are looking at the 22-year-old.
However, according to Traore, the Gers are not the only club interested in securing the services of the Mali international.
Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow are among three clubs in Russia who want to sign the youngster, according to his agent.
Traore told The Scottish Sun: “Rangers are looking at Mamadou, but they are not alone.
“There are clubs in Russia interested, including Krasnodar, Dynamo Moscow and Lokomotiv Moscow. We will decide this summer what is the best option for him.”
Stats
According to The Scottish Sun, Metz paid Turkish side Alanyaspor £400,000 in transfer fee for Fofana in 2018.
The report has claimed that the youngster is now valued at £2.5 million by his French club.
According to WhoScored, Fofana made 18 starts and two substitute appearances in Ligue 1 for Metz this season.
Good signing for Rangers?
Rangers do have enough good defenders, but the Gers could always do with more quality, especially on the substitutes’ bench.
Filip Helander, George Edmundson, Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic are the four main centre-backs at Rangers.
However, Fofana is only 22 years of age, and if he does well and develops nicely, then Rangers could sell him for a big transfer fee and make a profit on their initial outlay.
