Watch The Weeknd and Rosalía Croon in Spanish in “La Fama” Music Video

Watch The Weeknd and Rosalía Croon in Spanish in “La Fama” Music Video

Rosalía and The Weeknd released the cinematic music video for their new single “La Fama” on Thursday, showcasing a story of lust and betrayal.

In the video, Rosalía plays a nightclub vixen flirting with The Weeknd while singing about an obsession with fame. Danny Trejo introduces Rosalía as “La Fama,” a character that he says “will pierce your heart and be your only obsession.”

As Rosalía’s performance continues, she locks eyes with The Weeknd and proceeds to seduce him with her dance moves while he sings to her in Spanish. Towards the end of her performance, The Weekend approaches the stage and tries to give her a kiss before she stabs him in the chest with a dagger.

Directed by Director X, the video ends with the crowd erupting in applause.

According to Pitchfork, Rosalía said she took inspiration from “the lyrics of Rubén Blades or Patti Smith and the songs of Aventura.”

“I wanted to write, in my own way, a bachata with a little story around ambition,” she said in a statement translated to English.

“La Fama” is available to stream on all major platforms and will appear on Rosalía’s upcoming album Motamami.

In other news, listen to Swedish House Mafia’s “Moth to a Flame” featuring The Weeknd.
