Showtime has debuted the first teaser for Nathan Fielder, Benny Safdie and A24‘s upcoming series, The Curse.
The creepy one-minute teaser offers a first look at Fielder and co-star Emma Stone as Asher and Whitney Siegel, a husband-and-wife duo that hosts the HGTV show Flipanthropy. The two are seen filming an introduction for their show and repeating it a second time, with only silence in between, and eerie music gets louder and louder in the background.
Despite the off-putting teaser, The Curse is actually a comedy series that follows the Siegels and a supposed curse that’s disturbing their relationship. On top of the curse and hosting Flipanthropy, the pair is also attempting to conceive a child — but the alleged curse isn’t making things easier for them.
Safdie will also be joining the main cast as Dougie Schecter, the producer of Flipanthropy.
Check out the teaser above. The Curse’s first three episodes will premiere at the New York Film Festival in early October, then stream on Showtime and Paramount+ on November 10 followed by its on-air debut on Showtime on November 12.
