Netflix has shared a trailer for its upcoming animated series, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off. Created by Bryan Lee O’Malley and BenDavid Grabinski, the show is based on O’Malley’s original Scott Pilgrim graphic novels, which spawned the 2010 namesake cult movie.
It was first announced in January 2022 that Netflix was working on developing the new series. O’Malley is at the helm as showrunner, while Grabinski serves as executive producer. Edgar Wright, the director of the 2010 flick, is also on board as an executive producer.
For the voice cast, the creators tapped the cast from the original movie. Michael Cera will return as Scott Pilgrim alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers. Ellen Wong voices Knives Chau, while Brie Larson is Envy Adams and Kieran Culkin is Wallace Wells.
Similar to the movie, the anime follows Pilgrim on his journey of fighting off the evil exes of his love interest, Flowers.
