Netflix has dropped the first official trailer of Zombieverse, an upcoming South Korean zombie apocalypse reality TV show. Scheduled to premiere on August 8, the show follows 10 “survivors” as they escape from a zombie-infested Seoul.
Evident in Netflix’s library of original shows, the zombie apocalypse setting has been a popular genre in recent years, particularly within Asian entertainment. When it comes to zombie-themed TV shows on the streaming platform alone, a number of those are South Korean titles: All of Us Are Dead, Sweet Home, Hellbound, and Kingdom.
Based on successful shows in the past like Physical: 100 and Singles’ Inferno, it appears that Netflix is seeking to elevate the much-visited post-apocalyptic genre by combining it with another recipe for success — unscripted reality TV. Zombieverse will feature a star-studded cast consisting of celebrities, TV personalities, and influencers. The list includes Tsuki, from K-pop group Billie; actress Lee Si-young from Sweet Home; Dex, YouTuber and contestant from Singles’ Inferno season two, as well as comedian Park Na-rae to name a few.

In other entertainment news, a John Wick spinoff series is coming to Peacock in September.
