Sony Pictures has debuted the first trailer of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s 28 Years Later.
The upcoming title in the 28 Days Later franchise stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes, Erin Kellyman and Jack O’Connell, and is set quite literally 28 years after the 2007 sequel, 28 Weeks Later. “It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway,” the synopsis read.
“When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.”
Cillian Murphy, the lead of the 2002 original 28 Days Later, was reportedly reprising his role in addition to serving as an executive producer, but he does not appear in the trailer. However, fans are speculating that the zombie spotted around the 1:47 mark in the trailer could be Jim as he bears a heavy resemblance to Murphy.
Producing alongside Garland and Boyle are Andrew MacDonald and Peter Rice, while cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle used an iPhone 15 Pro Max to shoot the film.
