Nintendo has shared a new gameplay trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the fourth mainline entry in the series. Developed by Monolith Soft, the RPG will debut on the Nintendo Switch and continues the franchise’s storyline, centered on six soldiers from the hostile nations of Angus and Keeves.
The game’s leading protagonists Noah and Mio are joined by Eunie, Lanz, Taion, and Sena as they embark on epic adventures. After opening with an action-packed battle, the trailer gives viewers a preview of the vibrant open-world format, from a lush forest to a grassy mountainside terrain. Players will be able to navigate the landscape via a navigation line that leads them directly to their destination.
The video also explains some of the game’s mechanics, battles and characters. Unlike previous installments in the Xenoblade series, which limited party groups to three people, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 allows for up to seven party members to take part in battles. Players can also now swap characters in the middle of combat.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is scheduled for release on July 29. Watch the new trailer for the game above.
