In anticipation of its Spring release, Universal Pictures has released its final trailer for the upcoming Nicolas Cage-led Count Dracula film, Renfield.
The upcoming horror comedy sees Cage play a rage-filled Count Dracula, featuring bloody fangs and a long, dark cape for the ominous aesthetic. Directed by Chris McKay, Renfield focuses on Cage in full Dracula mode as well as the dynamic between himself, the vampire king, and his henchman the titular Renfield, played by Nicholas Hoult. In this trailer, Dracula can be heard saying to Renfield, “You deserve only suffering.” In the following scene, Cage’s Dracula is seen gliding in a red saying smoking jacket with blood smeared all across his face. Awkwafina also makes a cameo in the trailer as her character the traffic cop, is set to take on Dracula in a confrontation.
In a previous Los Angeles Times interview, Cage explained that his take on the Dracula character draws from Bela Lugosi’s Dracula performance in the 1931 Dracula, as well as Frank Langella’s portrayal in the 1979 film of the same name and Gary Oldman’s 1992 Bram Stroker’s Dracula.
Renfield hits theaters on April 14.
In other entertainment news, Justin Roiland was recently dismissed of domestic violence charges.
