Off a hot streak of stellar cover performances from Joni Mitchell to Tate McRae, Maggie Rogers covered Bonnie Raitt’s hit song “I Can’t Make You Love Me” during a special performance at SirusXM. The bare-bones session featured Rogers’ breathy and delicate voice, which made for an emotionally charged take on the soul-baring lyrics that made Raitt famous.

The singer-songwriter’s repertoire spans decades and genres, as she can go from the viral TikTok and Gen Z beloved song “Greedy” by Tate McRae — which she recently performed for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge — to this classic blues staple. Rogers also paid tribute to another iconic singer-songwriter, Joni Mitchell, with two beautiful covers in the span of a week. Both “Cactus Tree” and “River” received a Rogers treatment in live performances that generated buzz from fans of both artists.

These soulful covers come after her third album, Don’t Forget Me, released this past April. The indie album was met with critical acclaim, and a subsequent successful tour is still ongoing. With plenty of dates still ahead, fans can expect more excellent covers to come during this tour, although the song choices might still surprise.
