Lavender Country—the project of Seattle-based folk singer Patrick Haggerty—has shared a new music video for his early single “I Can’t Shake the Stranger Out of You.” Originally released on the Lavender Country’s 1973 self-titled debut, the anthem of queer love and intimacy was re-recorded for this year’s Blackberry Rose. The pastoral visual, directed by Matthew Amato, arrives in the final week of Pride Month. Watch below.
In 2020, “I Can’t Shake the Stranger Out of You” was covered by RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Trixie Mattel for the album Barbara. Lavender Country’s updated version of the song was re-recorded in Nashville with a full band.
