Kendrick Lamar kicked off his 2022 tour last night (July 19) at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City. He performed “Auntie Diaries,” “Father Time,” a joint rendition of “Family Ties” with Baby Keem, and more. Watch select songs from Lamar’s headlining set below.
While the Oklahoma City show marked first official date of the Big Steppers Tour, Lamar has held other performances in recent months. Back in the winter, he played the Super Bowl LVI halftime show. Then, in June, he performed at Paris Fashion Week as part of a Louis Vuitton event, which was followed by a headlining performance at Glastonbury. Lamar also recently visited Ghana, a trip that was captured for a Spotify mini-documentary.
Kendrick Lamar’s fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, was released on May 13. The album features guest contributions from Baby Keem, fellow tour opener Tanna Leone, and others. Keem also appeared in the music video for “N95.”
Lamar announced Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers—allegedly his “final TDE album”—in April, tweeting a link to his Oklama website. The announcement was followed by the release of his single “The Heart Part 5,” which received a dazzling video featuring Lamar’s face morphing into deepfakes of other celebrities including OJ Simpson, Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, and Nipsey Hussle.
