After announcing his sixth studio album entitled Everything I Thought It Was earlier in the week – which marks his first release since Man of the Woods in 2018 – Justin Timberlake took to the Saturday Night Live stage to perform the soul-bearing ballad he released in tandem with the album announcement, “Selfish.” JT also tapped Tobe Nwigwe to premiere another new cut from the forthcoming project, this one a rap-meets-rock-meets-R&B anthem called “Sanctified.”
Timberlake kicks off the bouncy track with his buttery vocals, accompanied by a handful of background singers posted up on a sleek, wooden stage. “Rid me of my sins
Take and forgive them / Can I get a witness? / Sanctified,” the high-energy chorus asserts.
Nwigwe comes in about three minutes into the nearly five-minute track, of course, donning his signature mint green hue from head to toe and backed by a squad of mint green dancers.
“And my eyelids have opened / Chlorine, that h** can burn / But in return / All I discern is to be different / One has to unlearn / And just be …” he closes out his verse.
While “Sanctified” has not yet landed on streaming yet, stream the electric performance above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more updates on JT’s new releases as they emerge.
