After months of buildup, the first trailer for Fast X is finally here. Arriving as the tenth film in the Fast & Furious saga, Fast X is the first of a two-part finale, with the second film set to release in 2024.
“Over many missions and against impossible odds, Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his family have outsmarted, out-nerved and outdriven every foe in their path,” The Fast Saga writes in the description. “Now, they confront the most lethal opponent they’ve ever faced: A terrifying threat emerging from the shadows of the past who’s fueled by blood revenge, and who is determined to shatter this family and destroy everything— and everyone —that Dom loves, forever.”
Flash back to 2011, Fast Five saw Dom’s crew head to Rio De Janeiro where they took out Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and crippled his empire. Having spent the last 12 years plotting of vengeance, Reyes’ son Dante (Jason Momoa) now acts on his plans with Dom’s 8-year-old son (Leo Abelo Perry) as his ultimate target. As Dante’s plot unfolds, Dom’s family is spread all across the globe as they revisit old stomping grounds and are called to new locations including Los Angeles, Rome, Brazil, London, Portugal, and Antartica.
“You built such a beatiful life full of love and family and when you had the chance, you stole that from me. My future, my family, and now I’m going to break yours. Piece by piece,” Dante is heard saying in the trailer.
Joining the returning cast including Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jordana Brewster, Sung Kang, John Cena, Scott Eastwood, Helen Mirren, Jason Statham and Charlize Theron are a number of new faces including Brie Larson as a rogue representative from the Agency named Tess, Alan Richtson as a new Agency head, Daniela Melchior as a Brazilian street racer from Dom’s past and Rita Moreno as Dom’s grandmother. Fast X is directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk), and written by Justin Lin, Zach Dean, and Dan Mazaeu. Producers include Diesel, Lin, Neal Moritz, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Samantha Vincent.
Fast X premiers in theaters on May 19. Look for more trailers and details to emerge in the coming weeks.
