Watch Japanese Breakfast Throw Out the First Pitch at Citi Field

Watch Japanese Breakfast Throw Out the First Pitch at Citi Field

It’s been a big calendar for Japanese Breakfast and an even bigger past two weeks. Last June, Michelle Zauner released her breakthrough album, Jubilee, to deserved accolades, and before that, she released her book Crying in H Mart which is now being adapted into a film. The album was ranked as our second-best album of 2021, while its lead single, “Be Sweet,” was named the best song of 2021. Last weekend, Zauner and her band performed on Saturday Night Live and was just named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine. it seems like she stuck around New York City a bit longer.

On Friday night, Japanese Breakfast became the latest musician to throw out the first pitch at a New York Mets game, as they took on her hometown Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field. Posing in a Mets shirsey with “JBrekkie” as the name with the number 69, Zauner said she was repping the Fightin’ Phils by wearing their socks.

“Lord help her,” she tweeted from the field before tossing out the pitch.

As for the pitch itself, you can see how that went below.
