Ozuna, “Gracias”
Performing “Gracias” for the very first time on television, Ozuna returned to the stage for an intimate performance of the track from his latest album ENOC. Surrounded by candles and dressed in angelic white, a thankful Ozuna slowed things down for this stripped-down acoustic track. Making the performance even more special and personal, the superstar’s kids joined him onstage. By far one of the most beautiful performances of the night.
Maluma, “Hawái”
The awards kicked off with a bang thanks to Maluma, who sang his chart-topping global hit “Hawái.” The Colombian superstar, who was awarded with the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award, started his performance laying down on a white piano before joining a tribe of dancers onstage to continue singing the reggaetón-pop track.
Reik & Jessie Reyez, “Lo Intenté Todo”
Adding a romantic touch, the Mexican trio and Jessie Reyez took the stage to perform their dreamy collaboration “Lo Intenté Todo” from Reik’s EP 20-21. The crowd-pleasing performance marked the first time Reik and Reyez performed onstage together.
Banda MS, “Que Maldición”
Taking the stage to perform their chart-topping track “Que Maldición,” Banda MS premiered the collab they released with Snoop Dogg earlier this year. While Snoop was not there in person, an animated figure of the California rapper appeared on a big screen.
Carlos Vives medley: “Cumbiana,” “La Bicicleta,” “La Gota Fría” and “Pa’ Mayté”
Celebrating Carlos Vives’ special night — where he was recognized with the Billboard Hall of Fame Award — the Colombian star took us down memory lane performing a medley of oldies but goodies, such as “La Gota Fría” and “Pa’ Mayté.” But before taking us back to the ’90s, he performed “Cumbiana,” from his most recent album, and the Shakira-assisted “La Bicicleta.”
Jesse & Joy, “Love (Es Nuestro Idioma)”
The brother and sister duo took the stage to perform their motivational song “Love (Es Nuestro Idioma),” which was released in June in support of the LGBTQ community and to raise awareness about conversion therapy that is still taking place in Mexico and other parts of the world.
Gente de Zona & Gerardo Ortiz, “Otra Botella”
This trio’s performance was one of the night’s most highly anticipated performances, and it didn’t disappoint. Performing their collaboration for the first time, Gerardo Ortiz and Gente de Zona got everyone on their feet with their mariachi-infused rhythmic track.
Pablo Alborán, “Si Hubieras Querido”
The Spanish singer-songwriter brought light and a touch of intimacy with his performance of the track “Si Huberias Querido.” In Alborán fashion, the singer pulled us in as if he was singing to each one of us, whispering his ultra romantic lyrics.
Ozuna, Black Eyed Peas & J. Rey Soul, “Mamacita”
About an hour into the show, Ozuna and the Black Eyed Peas heated up the stage with their smash hit “Mamacita.” Practicing social distancing, Ozuna sang from one stage while Taboo, apl.de.ap and J. Rey Soul danced away to the catchy tune and will.i.am, via augmented reality/artificial intelligence, was on yet another stage delivering the catchy hook “Mamacita, mamacita, que bonita.”
Wisin & Myke Towers, “Mi Niña”
Dedicating their performance to all Latin women in the world, Wisin and Myke Towers debuted their collaboration “Mi Niña” at the 2020 Billboard Latin Music Awards. Joined by a group of dancers, all wearing masks, Wisin and Towers wore all-white to perform the catchy reggaeton track that’s a sweet homage to that special someone in your life.
Raymix and Paulina Rubio, “Tú y Yo”
For Raymix, collaborating with an artist he grew up listening to was a dream come true, as he expressed to Billboard on the red carpet. Then he performed his single “Tu y Yo” next to Paulina Rubio at the Billboard Latin Music Awards for the first time. The two Mexican artists pumped up the crowd with their infectious cumbia and TikTok dance.
Luis Fonsi & Farruko, “Perfecta”
Most performers of the night were joined by a group of dancers wearing masks and Luis Fonsi was not the exception. Performing his latest single “Perfecta,” Fonsi was joined onstage by Farruko. Paying homage to women with their lyrics about being perfect just the way they are, their set was accompanied by black-and-white photographs of girls and women of all ages.
Sech, “Relación”
Panamanian artist and winner of the best new artist of the year award, Sech performed a new version of his hit “Relacion.” He kicked off his set flaunting his piano skills before being joined by a seven-member gospel choir. “Relacion,” according to Sech on the red carpet, is the song that saved him during the quarantine.
Pitbull & Chesca, “Te Quiero Baby”
Up-and-coming artist Chesca took the stage with Pitbull to perform their new bop “Te Quiero Baby,” which is a Latin pop-urban version of the 1967 classic “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You,” immortalized by the iconic Frankie Valli.
Pitbull, Wisin, Yandel & El Alfa, “Moviéndolo”
Pitbull also took the stage with colleagues Wisin, Yandel, and El Alfa for the mambo-infused trap “Moviendolo,” with a touch of Dominican dembow. Dollar bills took over the large screens, which represented the powerful team-up among Latin music’s biggest names.
Daddy Yankee, Anuel AA, Kendo Kaponi & Sisqo, “Don Don”
Daddy Yankee, who won seven prizes at the Billboard Latin Music Awards, was joined onstage by Anuel AA and Kendo Kaponi to perform their latest single “Don Don,” which samples Sisqo’s hit “Thong Song.” Giving the song the ultimate twist, Sisqo joined the reggaeton stars for the remix.
Manuel Turizo, Rauw Alejandro & Myke Towers, “La Nota”
Performing his new single “La Nota,” for the first time, Manuel Turizo jumped onstage with Rauw Alejandro and Myke Towers. Wearing neon outfits, the three acts flaunted their power vocals and dance moves.
Farruko, Myke Towers, Sech, Jay Wheeler & Tempo, “La Tóxica” (Remix)
After dropping his club quarantine banger “Toxica” earlier this year, Farruko surprised fans with a remix during the Billboard Latin Music Awards. He was joined onstage by Sech, Myke Towers, Jay Wheeler and Tempo for the revamped version.
Armando Manzanero tribute medley
Celebrating Mexican icon Armando Manzanero, who was awarded the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award, Alborán, Fonsi, Navarro (Reik) and Joy (Jesse & Joy) sang a medley of Manzanero’s songs, with the icon himself on the piano, including “Contigo Aprendí,” “Por Debajo de la Mesa,” “No Sé Tu” and “Como Yo Te Amé.” Then, a visibly emotional Manzanero, performed “Esta Tarde Vi Llover.”
