Beyoncé graced the Oscars stage tonight by opening the Academy Awards with a performance of her King Richard song “Be Alive.”
Staying true to the premise of the film, Beyoncé’s performance paid tribute to tennis-duo Venus and Serena Williams, taking place at the Compton tennis courts the sisters ran drills as children. The performance was also introduced by the sister duo, as Beyoncé joined her dancers and orchestra in matching tennis ball green outfits.
The song “Be Alive,” marks Beyoncé’s first Oscar nomination. She was nominated alongside Billie Eilish‘s James Bond theme “No Time To Die,” which won in the category, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda‘s “Dos Orguitas” for Encanto amongst others.
