After dropping their witty, electric track “Poke It Out” last week, D.C. rapper Wale and J.Cole have cooked up a music video filled with city-wide joyrides and lakeside bonfires.
The single marks the first time that the duo has collaborated since their freestyle, “My Boy,” in 2018, which landed on Wale’s third EP Free Lunch. “Poke It Out” pays respect to Q-Tip‘s 1999 hit “Vivrant Thing” with a sample of the track’s signature electric bass.
The song is slated to arrive on Wale’s seventh full-length effort, Folarin II, which follows 2019’s Wow… That’s Crazy. The upcoming record, which is scheduled to release on October 22 via Warner Records, will feature 16 tracks, including the rapper’s collaboration with Maxo Kream and Yella Beezy, “Down South.”
Meanwhile, Cole recently announced that Dreamville Festival will officially return to Raleigh, North Carolina, for two days in 2022. The chart-topper has not yet unveiled the event’s lineup, though it is scheduled to take place on April 2 and April 3 in Raleigh’s Dorothea Dix Park.
