Voxtrot share new single "New World Romance": Stream

Indie pop band Voxtrot are back with their latest single, “New World Romance,” and an accompanying lyric video. Stream it below.

The krautrock-derived anthem feels somewhere between a homecoming and a fresh start for Voxtrot, with frontman Ramesh Srivastava drawing inspiration for the track from the 2015 documentary B-Movie: Lust & Sound in West-Berlin 1979-1989. To Srivastava, “New World Romance” embodies the sentiment of “honoring the past while releasing it, so that we can receive what comes next with an open heart.”

It’s a powerful sentiment, for sure, given the new chapter that Voxtrot seem to be embarking on. The band just released “Another Fire,” their first single in 14 years, earlier this fall.

Finding acclaim in the early aughts before breaking up in 2010, Voxtrot have since gained a second wind of fans online and beyond. According to a press release, the band reunited in 2022 after Srivastava dreamt of them playing together onstage. “There was such a strong and palpable feeling of love in my heart that when I woke up, it was still with me,” he said. After scrolling through social media and discovering this new generation of fandom, Srivastava said “it seemed very, very obvious that we should do this.”

“New World Romance” — as with “Another Fire” — was conceived upon this reunion, in which Voxtrot members gathered in Lockhart, Texas, in an attempt to explore new opportunities. It’s unclear as of yet whether this “new world” for Voxtrot will include an all-new album. However, the band has since released two archival vinyl compilations, Early Music and Cut from the Stone: Rarities & B-Sides, and also embarked on a US tour earlier this year.
