Volvo Introduces New “Black Edition” Styling Option for S60 Sedan

Volvo has added a special Black Edition styling option, featuring exclusive high gloss black accents and badging, to its S60 Sedan. The limited style will become available for purchase this spring, with less than 450 vehicles being produced for model year 2022.

The styling option will be available for Volvo’s plug-in hybrid S60 Recharge, along with the mild-hybrid S60 Momentum and R-Design trims. Aside from accents and badging, the Black Edition also includes high gloss black 19-inch wheels and metallic paint.

“The design of the S60 Black Edition evokes a passionate response across the company,” said Eric Beak, head of design for Volvo Car USA, in a statement. “We’re very proud that the Black Edition has been designed here in the US and will be built by our US team in South Carolina.”

Volvo executives accelerated the timeline for the Black Edition after seeing the vehicle in person in November 2021 and “falling in love” with the design. The construction was approved immediately, bypassing the company’s standard design approval process.

The S60 Black Edition, which includes both Onyx Black Metallic and Crystallic White Metallic colorways, will start with an MSRP below $40,000 USD. Take a look at the forthcoming designs above.

Elsewhere in auto, Ford has unveiled the updated Ranger Raptor for 2023.
