Volvo Announces Its EX30 Compact Electric SUV

Swedish automaker Volvo has announced its new EX30 company electric SUV.

Marking Volvo’s fourth electric vehicle, the EX30 is set to have the lowest carbon emissions out of its lineup. Leading the charge with the premium SUV is either a single-motor extended range or a twin-motor engine. Further details of the single motor option include rear-wheel drive, 0 to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds, 268 HP, 235 lbs-ft of torque and a 275-mile range. The twin motor boasts all-wheel-drive capabilities with 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds, 422 HP, 400 lbs-ft of torque and a 265-mile range.

Another key feature of both models is its fast charging which goes from 10 to 80 percent in 26.5 minutes. The interior boasts a premium upholstered configuration with contemporary, yet minimal tech features like a digital middle console. “We know that price and cost of ownership is still one of the biggest challenges when people consider switching to an electric car,” aid Volvo’s chief executive, Jim Rowan. “With the Volvo EX30, we aim to bring premium, fully electric mobility to a much broader audience, helping to advance and speed up the transition to full electrification that our industry and society needs.”
