Vintage Lamborghini LM002 Truck Surfaces at Auction

Vintage Lamborghini LM002 Truck Surfaces at Auction

A vintage 1991 Lamborghini LM002 has recently surfaced for auction via Bring A Trailer — a model from the automaker that rapper A$AP Rocky recently revealed in a Hypebeast interview as one of his dream cars.

The specific model up for auction is one of the approximately 300 LM002s produced between 1986 and 1993, representing a unique chapter in Lamborghini’s storied history, merging the luxury of a sports car with the rugged utility of an all-terrain vehicle.

Under the hood lies a fuel-injected 5.2L quad-cam V12 engine, similar to the one found in the contemporary Countach. This powerhouse, delivering a staggering 444 horsepower when new, is coupled with a five-speed manual transmission, a dual-range transfer case and a locking center differential. On the odometer, the vehicle reads a relatively light 15,000 miles and has been under the care of its current owner since 2001.

The LM002’s exterior, freshly repainted in white in 2022, showcases its distinctive, angular bodywork made of aluminum and fiberglass – a nod to its military vehicle roots. The design includes a cargo bed with jump seats, chrome bumpers, fog lamps and a fold-down tailgate, giving it a commanding presence. Notably, the 17” OZ alloy wheels, wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion tires dating from 2002, are primarily for display, given their age-related sidewall damage.

Inside the cabin, the LM002 features striking red leather upholstery, adorning the front and rear bucket seats, door panels, dashboard and center console. The luxury extends to woodgrain trim, air conditioning, power windows and a unique ceiling-mounted stereo system.

This LM002’s lineage traces back to Lamborghini’s ambitious attempt to create a military vehicle, culminating in its grand unveiling at the 1986 Brussels Auto Show. Its roughly three-ton curb weight and robust frame reflect its rugged origins, yet its refined craftsmanship and aggressive styling are unmistakably Lamborghini.

At the time of writing, bidding is ongoing for the ‘91 LM002, with the highest bid in at $237,000 USD.

See more of A$AP Rocky’s thoughts on the vehicle in the video below and why he thinks Lamborghini should bring it back.
