The past two weeks have no doubt delighted many Marvel fans who loved the studio’s work with Netflix, with both Charlie Cox‘s Daredevil making a cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Vincent D’Onofrio‘s Kingpin returning in Hawkeye. Now that these two can officially be considered MCU canon, the natural next question is whether we’ll see them confronting each other on the silver screen, and D’Onofrio has given his take on a possible reunion.
In a recent interview with TVLine, the actor said that anything is possible in the future, but he’d very much like to work with Cox again. “I would love for that,” he began. “It hasn’t crossed my mind a lot; I’ve kind of walked away from Daredevil. For a bit, I thought it might come back, but it’s been years now. I gave up on that. But I didn’t know that I was going to get a call from Kevin [Feige] either, so everything’s up for grabs. I had no idea that I would do Hawkeye.”
Speaking about returning to Kingpin for Hawkeye, the actor also said that much of his creative process was the same, placing a great emphasis on the character’s emotional state. “The process was to be treated exactly the same,” D’Onofrio explained. “Early on in our first conversation [with Marvel Studios], I was about his emotional life and how I approached, how I figured out how to play the character in Daredevil, and that I based my whole character on his emotional life. And that was how I needed to play him for Hawkeye. And they were just so excited that I said that because it’s what they were thinking.”
All episodes of Hawkeye are now available on Disney+.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Uncharted has just dropped its second trailer.
