Victoria Monét is back with a smooth new single entitled “Smoke” featuring Lucky Daye.
The Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter and producer has been on a slight musical break as her last singles “Coastin’” and “F.U.C.K.” were released in 2021. But now it’s evident that she’s ready to embark on a new journey with the release of her newest track. In typical Monét fashion, the song finds the perfect balance between groove, seduction and smoothness. “Little fireworks that light up for me/In my fingertips I burn my worries/Do it somethin’ like that A-track shorty/Keep it in rotation, it’s a celebration every time we smoke, smoke/Do it somethin’ like that A-track shorty (Woo-ooh-ooh)/Keep it in rotation (Woo-ooh-ooh), it’s a celebration every time we—,” sings Monét and Daye in the song’s chorus.
Accompanying the song is a music video that shows the cycles between moments riding a motorcycle in the desert, chilling outside with the grill going, relaxing in the bed and more. What’s particularly striking about the visuals is a vintage aesthetic and visual overlay that pervades several graphic elements.
“Smoke is the beginning of a new era for me! Exhaling the old and inhaling the new,” says Monét. “I am also really happy that this release is with collaborators I consider family! I can’t wait to elevate. I want all the smoke!”
The artist has an upcoming sold-out show in Los Angeles on March 31.
