Victor Solomon is ready for the Olympic Games. Known for blending the worlds of basketball with fine art, the Boston-born, Los Angeles-based artist has released a new limited edition vessel inspired by the US Dream Team of the early ’90s.
The US National Basketball Team are defending champs and will be eyeing to secure a record 17th gold medal when they hit the courts in Paris later this month. 2024 will be the last dance for a number of players, however, as LeBron James, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant will likely make their last Olympics appearance, passing the torch to younger stars on the roster — from Anthony Edwards and NBA champion Jayson Tatum to Tyrese Haliburton and Bam Adebayo.
“The basketball is a vessel,” wrote Solomon in a statement, ” – a vessel for competition, a vessel for community, for creativity and as we embark on the Olympics – for our country.”
Limited to an edition of 100, The Dream Team Vessel is a 7.8 inch molded crystal basketball that is hand-painted with gold enamel seams and embedded with an American flag. For collectors looking to purchase, the sculpture is available at the artist’s Literally Balling website for $500 USD.
