Italian house Valentinolaunched the Valentino Vintage initiative in 2022 with an online space and a physical takeover in four vintage stores worldwide in Milan, Tokyo, New York, and Los Angeles. The brand invited clients to hand in their Valentino pieces in selected stores to receive a voucher that corresponds to the value of the item they handed in once evaluated by experts. This year, Valentino decided to expand this project with a second edition in three new locations in its global network of iconic vintage stores with London, Paris, and Seoul added to the original locations. The first phase will launch online in February 2023, followed by special takeovers of the seven selected vintage boutiques in April. Valentino Vintage invites the public into a new circular system in which past Valentino pieces embark on a new journey by moving from hand to hand.
This year Valentino Vintage also announced a creative partnership with the London-based education and incubator platform dedicated to young design talent named 1 Granary. With this partnership, Valentino aims to let students explore archival fashion as a tool for future creativity and to invite the next generation of creative talent into the multidimensional world of Valentino Vintage. Seven design schools in the seven cities have been selected and will receive an exclusive donation of clothes so students can learn more about the historical heritage of Valentino.

Together with the launch of its Spring-Summer 2023 collection, the Parisian house Chloé introduced a new chapter of transparency for luxury by enabling full circularity with Instant Resale. The Vertical project provides a unique and innovative digital ID, a technology powered by EON, and will allow users to scan the labels of products with a smartphone, enabling them to trace the entire supply chain and production process of their item from field to the finished piece. This system will also grant them access to an ownership certificate and will allow direct resale through Vestiaire Collective, the leading global online marketplace for pre-loved luxury fashion, as well as receiving detailed product care & repair information – a first in the industry.
Clients will also be able to return and sell their pre-owned Chloé fashion items via a co-branded platform, powered by Vestiaire Collective. The products with digital IDs, leveraging EON’s Instant Resale capability, will enjoy a streamlined customer selling experience as these items can be added to a dedicated Chloé x Vestiaire Collective pre-filled listing form. The condition of the item will have to be confirmed and product imagery uploaded to receive an immediate price offer from Vestiaire Collective. Once the price of an item has been agreed upon, the item has been authenticated and controlled by the platform and the clients can choose from three exchange options; a voucher to be redeemed at a Chloé online shop or store, a Vestiaire Collective voucher to be used throughout the platform or a charitable donation to UNICEF’s gender equality initiatives. This Chloé’s year-long exclusive pilot project with Vestiaire Collective will launch in the USA, Europe and the UK.

The Italian fashion house Bottega Venetta recently launched the Certificate of Craft, a service that offers unlimited refresh and repairs on Bottega’s iconic bags to its clients. Comparable to a to a lifetime warranty for a bag, this initiative is a commitment to sustainability and celebrates the concept of designer pieces that are worth to be passed on from generation to generation, reducing the need for replacement. The Certificate of Craft is a physical card showing a serial number and thus the proof of authenticity of the bag. “We focus on responsible growth. Our intention is to maintain products in use for longer, reducing the need for replacement.” says the CEO of Bottega Veneta, Leo Rongone. “Our vision remains consistent with the one of our founders, they wanted Bottega Veneta to represent the most elevated and refined form of luxury. We count days, not hours, to make our products. They are designed to last forever.”
