Upcoming Frieze Sculpture LA Cancelled Due to COVID Delays

The upcoming Frieze Los Angeles will no longer hold its free sculpture exhibition in Beverly Hills. The initiative has been canceled due to labor shortages and shipping delays, according to a report first published over the weekend by the Los Angeles Times.

Over the years, the Sculpture aspect of the fair has become a fan favorite and was going to make its Beverly Hills debut this month through 12 large-scale works, including Chris Burden‘s massive stainless steel statue, 40 Foot Stepped Skyscraper. According to fair representative Belinda Bowring, many of the artworks are currently stuck at ports and will not be able to make it in time for the event, which commences in several weeks.

“We have determined that we do not have sufficient artworks to realize a full-scale public-sculpture installation,” said Bowring, adding, “There were labor shortages because people were either sick or isolating, things like that.”

Nonetheless, the remaining events for Frieze Los Angeles will still open to the public at its new location in Beverly Hills from February 17 to 20.

In other art news, Cam Kirk turned his love for capturing images into a thriving creative community.
