If you think you’ve heard all the unreleased Notorious B.I.G. material there is, think again. A new animated Pepsi ad features an uncovered Biggie freestyle from 1997 in which the late Brooklyn rap icon drops a few bars about the sugary stuff in the run-up to Big’s upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Nov. 7.
The brief rap is courtesy of Biggie collaborators DJ Enuff and Cey Adams, who remastered the 23-year-old tapes of the freestyle Christopher Wallace dropped at D&D Studios all those years ago during a visit to Hot97, accompanied by a short animated video in which characters hang on the streets of Brooklyn listening to a boombox. The Antnamation short takes viewers on a tour of the rapper’s beloved borough, from the corner near Biggie’s childhood home on St. James Place to B.I.G.’s Bodega, where the crew gathers for some impromptu sidewalk break dancing.
