Two Decades Later, Nintendo’s ‘Kirby 64’ Is Relaunching on the Switch

Two Decades Later, Nintendo’s ‘Kirby 64’ Is Relaunching on the Switch

Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards first debuted on the Nintendo 64 console in 2000 as the first Kirby game to feature 3D graphics. More than two decades later, Nintendo is bringing Kirby 64 to the Switch.

The game will be included on the company’s latest Switch Online Expansion Pack, available to those subscribed to Switch Online. In a trailer shared by Nintendo, the reworked Kirby 64 appears to maintain all of the key components of the original version.

The game is still a side-scrolling platformer, now with brighter and clearer graphics. The Switch iteration will also allow players to take part in mini-games and verse one another in multiplayer mode.

Kirby 64 will arrive as the 15th Nintendo 64 game to be made available on Switch Online, according to Video Games Chronicle.

Nintendo’s Switch Online Expansion Pack launches Friday, May 20. Additional titles included in the lineup are Mario Kart 64, Yoshi’s Story, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask and more.

In other gaming news, EA’s Apex Legends Mobile launches this Tuesday.
