Collectible toy brand TUD – also known as The Ugly Duck – has tapped the legacy of Michael Jackson in its latest creation. The limited-edition piece follows on from the brand’s successful Mike Tyson partnership where it blended art and interior design to serve up a silver-clad depiction of the boxer’s life.
For the new drop, TUD continues to use its overarching Ugly Duckling narrative to tell the story of how Michael Jackson defied the odds of becoming a music icon. Similar to the teachings in the tale, the symbolic piece aims to encapsulate his journey – from his working-class roots in Indiana to the forefront of the world stage – and how he emerged as a globally acclaimed music star.
With his library of well-known tracks transcending decades of music lovers, TUD connects the icon with the cosmic entity in its design. The respective 60cm duck figurine is therefore composed of monochromatic elements including a split pearl and black panel etched with “King of Pop” and Michael Jackson’s autograph. Painting the legs and one arm in shimmering silver, the brand also references the singer’s famous white socks and single crystal glove which were recognized as his uniform.
To ensure the new collectible will live on through the ages as a source of ongoing inspiration, TUD constructs the duck from a mix of high-quality, durable materials, elevating it from a mere art piece to a timeless artifact. Further adding to its authenticity, each product is fitted with an NFC tag and arrives in a specially designed box.
The new TUD x Michael Jackson collectible toy will be available in limited quantities of 777 units. Shop the drop on the brand’s website now.
