Swizz Beatz and Timbaland brainstormed Verzuz at the start of the pandemic as a platform for pairing popular artists from the worlds of R&B, hip-hop, dancehall and gospel.
Since its launch in March 2020, the Verzuz has boosted sales and streams for its featured artists in addition to accumulating more than 5 billion impressions, and made a play into sports with NFL Pro Bowl Verzuz collaborations.
Just last month, Billboard broke the news that Triller Network, parent company of the Triller app, had acquired Verzuz.
To date, heavyweight battles have featured Nelly vs. Ludacris, Jill Scott vs. Erykah Badu, Lil Jon vs. T-Pain and many more.
