Update: Live Nation, Scoremore, and the Astroworld Festival team issued a joint statement confirming full refunds for the festival attendees. The statement also said it was working to set up a health fund to help victims cover medical expenses.
Travis Scott has pulled out of his headlining performance at the Day N Vegas Festival and will refund all tickets to his tragedy-stricken Astroworld Festival, Variety reports. Sources for Scott said he is “too distraught to play” after eight concertgoers died and hundreds were injured during his set in Houston, Texas this past weekend.
The festival’s promoter, AEG, has not announced a replacement for Scott’s slot.
Roddy Ricch, the rapper who played before Scott at Astroworld, has since pledged his festival earnings to the families of those who died.
On Sunday, Scott was sued—in what seems to be the first of many lawsuits—alongside concert ticket company LiveNation and organizer ScoreMore, by an Astroworld concertgoer suffering injuries.
Scott expressed his condolences in a video, saying: “I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night.”
