Travis Scott Debuts New Song at 2022 Billboard Music Awards in First TV Appearance Since Astroworld: Watch

Tonight at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, Travis Scott made his first major public appearance since the tragic 2021 Astroworld Festival that left 10 people dead. Scott performed “Mafia” and a new song reportedly called “Lost Forever,” which was previously teased in a Cactus Jack Dior fashion show last year. He did not acknowledge or make a statement about the tragedy. You can find clips from his performance below.

Astroworld ended in chaos on November 5, when several people were killed as the result of a stampede toward the stage. The initial death count was eight, but, in the days following the tragedy, two more deaths were recorded. Scott has slowly been returning to the public eye since the tragedy. In late March, the rapper performed a brief set at a private pre-Oscars house party in Bel Air, California.

The following month, he also appeared at a Coachella afterparty, where he played five of his own songs during a brief DJ set in a La Quinta Venue. He was then featured on Southside and Future’s single “Hold That Heat,” and was announced as a performer at three South American music festivals.

Earlier this month, a married couple filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Scott and Live Nation after losing their unborn child allegedly due to injuries sustained at Astroworld. Over 90 lawsuits have been filed following the festival, which left hundreds injured.
