Travel experts have shared a glimpse into what it is really like to fly in ‘world’s weirdest’ business class. 

YouTube creators Kara and Nate, from Nashville, Tennessee, recently took to the skies once again in a video published on Daily Drop.

The husband-and-wife duo spent a total of eight hours in Air New Zealand business class across two separate flights – the first from Sydney to Auckland before then heading on to Tahiti.

Going into the trip, which cost the couple $3,472, Nate explained how he had been warned about the configuration of the seats on board ahead of time – branding them ‘some of the worst flying in the sky.’

In the clip, the couple began by breezing through the Air New Zealand check-in and explained that a benefit of their tickets meant they could access the airline’s business lounge.

And the pair took advantage of the offerings – including a selection of both hot and cold food as well as handmade coffee – before heading to their flight.

Kara and Nate, who have visited a staggering 106 countries, then boarded the Triple 7 aircraft for the first leg of their journey set to last three hours.

But, as they squeezed through to the business class area, Kara simply exclaimed: ‘This is so weird.’

Speaking from her seat, she said: ‘I’m just letting the initial shock wear off for a moment and then I’ll give a seat tour.’

Kara, who was treated to a complimentary welcome drink, described the reclining chair itself as ‘pretty comfy’ before praising the on-board entertainment for its ‘huge selection.’

But, when the camera cut back to Nate, he exclaimed: ‘Air New Zealand wins the award for the most awkward business class seat configuration…

‘I’m just looking at a lot more people’s heads. Somehow I feel like I’m inconveniencing people just by putting my feet up.’

Despite the grumbles, Kara added: ‘I would just like to point out that any day in business class is light years better than a day in economy.

‘But it’s also just kind of fun to be a bit opinionated I promise I’m not spoiled.’

Later, she tried out ‘world’s most awkward buddy seat,’ which seemingly doubled up as a foot rest.

Other benefits of the flight included a range of outlet offerings, free WiFi and the food on board.

Trying to work out an overall score to give the experience, Nate said: ‘I’m coming to the realization that the challenge with the scoring system is I’m not exactly sure what I’m comparing this flight to.

‘This flight is less than three hours long so if you compare it to domestic first class flight in the US obviously this is way better even if you take into account the awkward seating arrangement.

In his concluding remarks, Nate said: 'That was the most awkward business class seat I've ever sat in'

‘This is much better than sitting right next to a stranger and a seat that barely reclines – considering that this one lays flat.’

The business class area on the second leg of the journey – which was five hours long – was very similar but instead was fitted with ‘mood lights’ that showered the cabin with a purple hue. 

‘So far everything feels pretty much the same – perhaps a little newer,’ Kara explained.

In his concluding remarks, Nate said: ‘That was the most awkward business class seat I’ve ever sat in.’

But, once the seats were turned into beds, the pair both agreed it was ‘so cozy’ and ‘super comfortable.’ 

The couple scored the entire experience of Air New Zealand business class – which factored in the lounge, food, seat and bed to name a few – as a respectable 71 out of 100.
