Paramount Pictures on Thursday dropped off the official teaser trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, providing a first look at the film inspired by the ’90s Beast Wars cartoon.
Directed by Steven Caple Jr., the forthcoming seventh installment in the Transformers franchise will mark the first effort without Michael Bay‘s involvement. The new movie, which is set between the events of Bumblebee and Bay’s films, will include familiar Autobots like Optimus Prime and Bumblee, and it will also introduce new characters, including the Maximals, Terrorcons and Predacons.
The trailer focuses primarily on the new characters, spotlighting the leader of the Maximals, Optimus Primal, vocied by Ron Perlman. To the beat of Notorious B.I.G., it also offers glimpses of Optimus Prime, played again by Peter Cullen, along with shots of the titular beasts’ impressive designs. Notably, Arcee, a former scout on Cybertron prior to the Great Exodus, makes a cameo at the conclusion of the trailer.
Aside from Perlman and Cullen, the film stars Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Tobe Nwigwe, Peter Dinklage, Michelle Yeoh, Liza Koshy, John DiMaggio, David Sobolov, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Pete Davidson and Cristo Fernández.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will premiere in theaters on June 9, 2023. Watch the official teaser trailer above.
