Maybe your spidey-sense is tingling, or maybe that low rumble is just the YouTube views counter ticking away at an unprecedented pace. As Deadline reports, the new trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home has amassed a staggering 355.5 million global views in its first 24 hours, shattering the previous record of 289 million views set by Avengers: Endgame.
The buzz extends beyond the total views. The No Way Home teaser trailer led to 4.5 million mentions on social media globally, making it the largest 24-hour social media conversation of all-time. It isn’t hard to understand why; this follow-up to Far From Home has some pretty serious implications for the broader Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The trailer finds Peter Parker (Tom Holland) asking Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) to help with some recent overexposure. But when the former’s doubt meets the latter’s overconfidence, the resulting spell sends shudders through the multiverse, leading to the appearance of at least one unexpected visitor: Alfred Molina’s Doctor Octopus from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy.
